Uplighters

Create smooth colour washes across walls, columns and architectural features with professional LED uplighters. Choose from mains-powered, wireless and battery-powered uplights, including models with DMX control, for weddings, venues, stages, marquees, hospitality spaces and installations.

What are LED uplighters?

An uplighter is positioned at floor level and aimed upwards to add colour and definition to walls, drapes, columns and other features. LED uplighting is popular for weddings and events because compact fixtures can transform a room without taking attention away from the space itself. It is also used for stages, bars, hotels and architectural installations.

Choosing the right uplighter

The best fixture depends on where it will be used, how it will be powered and the level of control the installation requires.

  • Power: mains-powered uplighters suit fixed or longer-running installations, while battery-powered models reduce visible cabling and speed up event setup.
  • Control: standalone modes are useful for simple colour washes; DMX and wireless DMX options make it easier to synchronise multiple fixtures and build programmed scenes.
  • Colour: compare the fixture's LED colour system when accurate whites, soft pastels or saturated colours are important.
  • Beam angle: wider optics spread light across a broad wall, while narrower beams can emphasise columns and individual features.
  • Battery runtime: check the rated operating time at the brightness and colour settings you intend to use rather than relying on the maximum headline figure.
  • Indoor or outdoor use: for exposed or damp locations, choose a model with a published IP rating suitable for the environment and follow its installation guidance.

Uplighting for weddings, venues and installations

For weddings and temporary events, portable wireless uplighters provide a neat finish around walls, marquees and function rooms. Venues and production teams may prefer DMX-controlled fixtures for repeatable colours, fades and cues, while permanent installations should also be selected for suitable power, mounting, cooling and environmental protection.
