What is the difference between spot, beam and wash lighting?
A spot fixture produces a defined pool of light and may project gobos or shaped imagery. A beam fixture creates a narrower shaft of light for visible aerial effects, usually enhanced by haze. A wash fixture spreads light across a wider area with softer edges. Hybrid moving heads combine selected characteristics of these fixture types within one unit.
Compare the actual beam angle, zoom range, output measurements and optical features of individual products. Fixture wattage alone does not determine how bright or suitable a light will be at the required distance.
Theatrical and performance lighting
Theatrical lighting includes profile, Fresnel, followspot and related fixtures for performers, scenery and controlled stage illumination. Buyers should consider beam shaping, zoom or lens requirements, colour temperature, colour rendering, dimming performance, fan noise and flicker characteristics where relevant to live performance, broadcast or recording.

Laser lighting systems
Laser systems provide precisely defined beam, animation and projection effects for suitable entertainment applications. Laser products require appropriate classification checks, positioning, control measures and operation by competent people. Never assume that a laser is safe for audience scanning or unrestricted public use.
