Prolight Concepts supplies rigging hardware for suspending, securing and positioning equipment in entertainment, staging and installation environments. The range includes lifting equipment, suspension components, secondary restraints, structural fixings and practical hardware for temporary and permanent applications.
Correct selection depends on the load, attachment point, operating direction, required Working Load Limit and intended application. Every load-bearing component in an assembly must be suitably rated, compatible and installed in accordance with its manufacturer’s instructions.
Choose the Right Rigging Equipment
Chain Hoists and Lifting Equipment
Chain hoists are used to lift and position truss, lighting systems and production equipment. Consider the required capacity, lifting height, operating method, suspension arrangement and duty cycle. Hoists and associated lifting accessories must be inspected, operated and maintained by suitably competent personnel.
Beam Clamps and Structural Attachment
Beam clamps provide attachment points on compatible structural beams without permanent drilling. Select a clamp according to the beam profile, flange width, load direction and stated Working Load Limit. The supporting structure must also be confirmed as capable of carrying the imposed load.
Shackles, Links and Suspension Hardware
Shackles, master links, chains and eye bolts and eye nuts connect lifting and suspension components. Check the pin type, dimensions, material, load rating and permitted loading direction. Components must fit correctly without side-loading, overcrowding or modification.
Slings, Steels and Rigging Wires
Soft slings help protect finished surfaces and provide flexible attachment around suitable structures. Soft steel slings and rigging steels and wires offer alternatives for applications requiring different construction, temperature resistance or handling characteristics.
Select the correct length, configuration and Working Load Limit, accounting for the effect of sling angles and hitch arrangements. Protect slings from sharp edges and inspect them before use for cuts, abrasion, deformation, broken wires, heat damage or illegible identification.
Safety Bonds and Secondary Restraints
Safety bonds provide secondary restraint for compatible fixtures and accessories. They do not replace the primary suspension. Select a bond with the correct rating and length, keep the potential fall distance as short as practicable and attach it to suitable points on both the equipment and supporting structure.
Fixings, Bracketry and Supporting Equipment
The wider range includes bracketry, nuts, bolts and washers, marquee clamps, stage weights and tank traps and tubes. Fixings must match the specified thread, grade, material and installation method. Do not substitute load-bearing hardware solely because its dimensions appear similar.
Understanding Working Load Limits
- Check the complete load: Include fixtures, truss, cables, accessories and any additional suspended equipment.
- Account for loading conditions: Load direction, sling angle, movement and shock loading can affect the permitted capacity.
- Use the lowest-rated component: The capacity of an assembly cannot exceed its weakest component.
- Keep identification legible: Do not use lifting accessories when their rating or identification cannot be confirmed.
- Never modify components: Drilling, grinding, welding, bending or replacing specified parts can invalidate their rating.
Inspection and Safe Use
Rigging equipment should be visually checked before every use and receive the required documented examinations at appropriate intervals. Remove equipment from service if it shows excessive wear, corrosion, distortion, cracking, damaged threads, missing parts or other signs that could affect its performance.
Rigging plans, structural loading and lifting operations should be assessed and carried out by competent personnel. Product Working Load Limits apply only when equipment is used in the specified configuration and within the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
