Professional Truss Systems and Components

Prolight Concepts supplies Global Truss systems for staging, lighting structures, exhibitions, touring productions, retail displays and fixed installations. The range covers compact decorative truss through to larger structural, pre-rig, ground-support and stage-roof systems.

Each truss family uses defined dimensions, connection components and load data. Select the complete system according to the span, support positions, imposed loads, structure shape and operating environment. Components must not be mixed solely because the main chords or connectors appear similar.

Choose the Right Truss Series

Compact F14 and F24 Truss

F14 Series and F24 Series provide compact truss options for suitable displays, exhibition features and smaller event structures. Their reduced dimensions make them easier to incorporate where space and visual scale are important.

Compact truss should not automatically be treated as a substitute for larger structural systems. Check the permitted span, loading and support arrangement for the exact series and section.

F31 Single-Tube Truss

F31 Standard and F31PL are single-tube systems used for bracing, grids, custom frames and compatible structural assemblies. Straight sections, connection dice and related components are available across the ranges.

F32 Ladder Truss

F32 Standard and F32PL use a two-chord ladder configuration. Available options include standard and Z-braced sections for compatible applications.

Ladder truss has different strength characteristics depending on its orientation and load direction. Use the applicable load table for the exact section and installed orientation.

F33 Triangular Truss

F33 Standard and F33PL use a three-chord triangular profile. The range includes straight sections, curves, corners and junction components for compatible structures.

Corner orientation is particularly important with triangular truss. Confirm whether the apex must face up, down, in or out and whether a corner is left- or right-handed before ordering.

F34 Box Truss

F34 Standard and F34PL are four-chord box-truss systems with extensive ranges of straight lengths, curves, corners, junctions and accessories. Box truss is widely used for lighting rigs, goalposts, exhibition structures and touring systems.

F34 DNA provides an additional F34-format system with dedicated straight sections and conversion components. Confirm the required DNA or conventional F34 connection before combining sections.

F35PL, F44P and F45 Systems

F35PL, F44P and F45 provide specialist configurations for applications requiring different profiles, connection systems or structural performance.

These ranges are not interchangeable with F34 simply because some components have comparable overall dimensions. Use the specified corners, base plates, conicals and connecting hardware for the selected family.

Standard, PL and P Connections

Global Truss Standard, PL and P systems use different connection components. Select Standard Series conicals and spacers or PL Series conicals and spacers to match the truss and corner being used.

Half conicals, full conicals, spacers, connection dice, pins and clips must all belong to an approved combination. Where a transition between systems is required, use a documented conversion or adaptor component rather than substituting visually similar hardware.

Corners, Junctions and Bracing

Truss corners are available in two-way, three-way, four-way and multi-directional configurations. The correct component depends on the truss series, angle, chord orientation and direction of the adjoining sections.

corner braces provide additional support in compatible structures and are available in different lengths and finishes. Braces must be installed in the positions required by the structural design; adding an unverified brace does not automatically increase a structure’s permitted load.

Base Plates and Floor-Supported Structures

truss base plates provide floor support for compatible upright truss sections, towers, goalposts and display structures. Options vary in dimensions, weight, connection pattern and supported truss families.

Select the plate according to the structure height, centre of gravity, imposed loads and any approved ballast or fixing arrangement. A large or heavy base plate alone does not guarantee that a tall structure is stable.

Pre-Rig and Modular Rigging Systems

pre-rig truss is designed to allow compatible fixtures and production equipment to remain within the truss during transport and preparation. The range includes straight and curved sections, corner components, dollies and supporting hardware.

modular rigging systems use configurable frames and connection components for repeatable production layouts. Confirm frame dimensions, load positions and compatible connection hardware when designing a system.

Ground Support and Stage Roof Systems

ground support systems include towers, sleeve blocks, bases, outriggers, spindle feet and components for raising compatible truss structures from floor level. A complete ground-support structure requires an engineered design covering tower spacing, lifting method, roof or grid loading, ballast and environmental conditions.

stage roof systems include Global Truss round-arch roofs and rapidly deployable Konligo event structures. Roof coverings, side panels and branding surfaces create additional wind loading and must be included in the structural assessment and operating plan.

Truss Adaptors, Covers and Display Products

truss adaptors provide compatible interfaces between truss, stands, lifters or suspension equipment. Check the truss profile, mounting interface, orientation and Working Load Limit of the complete assembly.

truss covers and sleeves can change the appearance of a structure or provide a surface for decorative lighting. Confirm the sleeve dimensions and truss profile, and account for fabric coverings in any relevant fire and wind assessment.

truss plinths provide freestanding display positions for compatible lighting, speakers and event equipment. Decorative or presentation products must still be loaded, assembled and stabilised according to their individual specifications.

Deco Truss

deco truss provides steel truss-style sections and corners for suitable display and decorative applications. Check the individual product information before applying equipment loads. Decorative truss must not be assumed to have the same structural capacity as an engineered aluminium truss system.

Transporting and Storing Truss

truss stackers and trolleys help organise compatible sections during storage, preparation and transport. Use the specified adaptors and wheel arrangement, distribute the load evenly and secure stacked sections before moving or loading them into a vehicle.

Protect chord ends, braces, conicals and connection faces from impact. Transport damage can affect both assembly and structural performance even when the section still appears generally straight.

Planning a Truss Structure

  • System and profile: Identify the exact series, connection type and chord arrangement.
  • Span: Measure the clear distance between approved support points.
  • Total load: Include fixtures, cables, clamps, motors, screens, speakers and accessories.
  • Load positions: Check point loads, uniformly distributed loads and any asymmetrical loading.
  • Orientation: Install ladder, triangular and corner sections in the specified direction.
  • Supports: Confirm bases, suspension points, towers, lifters or building attachment points.
  • Movement: Account for lifting operations, dynamic loads and equipment that moves during use.
  • Environment: Include wind, weather, coverings, ground conditions and public access.

Inspection and Safe Assembly

Inspect every truss section and connection component before assembly. Check for bent chords, cracked welds, damaged braces, elongated holes, distorted conicals, corrosion and missing or damaged pins and retaining clips. Remove questionable components from service for assessment.

Use only the connection parts specified for the truss series and ensure every pin and retaining clip is installed correctly. Do not drill, grind, weld, straighten or otherwise modify structural truss unless the work is covered by an approved manufacturer or engineering procedure.

Suspended, ground-supported and outdoor truss structures should be designed, assembled and inspected by competent personnel using current manufacturer load data and appropriate structural documentation.
